The Suicide Forest

Culturally fascinating and deeply disturbing. The Aokigahara Forest is the most popular site for suicides in Japan, and second in the world only to San Francisco's Golden Gate Bridge, at a rate of 50 to 100 deaths a year. The authorities sweep for bodies only on an annual basis, as the forest sits at the base of Mt. Fuji and is too dense to patrol more frequently.

The Island of the Dolls is perhaps the creepiest tourist attraction in Mexico. Located within an extensive network of canals, south of Mexico City, the island is a place of mystery and superstition. Almost every tree growing on the island is decorated with old, mutilated dolls that give anyone the feeling that they’re constantly being watched.

Elizabeth Short aka The Black Dahlia (circa 1940s)

The body of a young woman was found in Leimert Park on January 15, 1947.

She was ID'd as Elizabeth Short, and she would become known as the Black Dahlia.

Long before she was The Black Dahlia, she was arrested for underage drinking in 1943.
